On Friday, 1 August, this year, marking the 81st anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, the symbol of Fighting Poland will illuminate the facade of the INTRACO skyscraper at 2 Stawki Street owned by the PHN Group.
That evening, two illuminated anchors – each approximately 20 meters high – will appear on the north and south side of the building. The symbol will be formed by strategically lit office windows between the 30th and 37th floor. Visible from several kilometres away, it will remind us of the unwavering spirit of the Uprising's fighters. The anchor will be displayed from 1 August, Friday, through the weekend until 3 August, Sunday.
- 1 August is a day when the thoughts of all residents of Warsaw and Poland turn to the heroic stance of the Insurgents. For our Group, which has long been rooted in the capital, honouring the memory of those who fought for its freedom is a moral duty.By displaying the Fighting Poland symbol on INTRACO, we want to express our deep respect and gratitude to the Warsaw Insurgents and the city's residents who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of independence, said Wiesław Malicki, President of the Management Board of Polski Holding Nieruchomości S.A.
The Warsaw Uprising broke out on 1 August 1944 at 5 pm and was the largest underground armed operation in occupied Europe. The fighting lasted 63 days, claiming the lives of around 16,000 Home Army soldiers and between 150,000 to 200,000 Warsaw civilians. The anchor emblem, in which the letter “P” stands for Poland and the arms arranged in the letter “W” symbolize fight (“walka”) or an anchor of hope, has since 1942 become a symbol of the Polish Underground State and the unyielding will to fight for independence.
For many years, Polski Holding Nieruchomości has actively participated in commemorating the anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, emphasizing the company's deep ties with the history of Warsaw and its residents.
