THE CONSTRUCTION OF MOXY HOTEL IS BEGINNING IN POZNAŃ NEXT TO THE ŁAWICA AIRPORT

Chopin Airport Development has signed an agreement for the construction of Moxy hotel that belongs to the Marriott International chain. The building that will be located in the immediate vicinity of the Poznań-Ławica Airport will start operating by the end of the next year.

The hotel with a total area of over 5,300 sq.m. will offer 120 rooms, a restaurant, conference room, fitness club and a parking lot for 89 vehicles. This is the second Moxy hotel in the portfolio of Chopin Airport Development. Polski Holding Nieruchomości has been selected to act as the project management company for investment process implementation.

“As the first Polish company, we decided to sign a contract for the Moxy brand and introduce it to Poland. Our first Moxy hotel will be opened by the end of the vacation season next to the Katowice Airport in Pyrzowice,” said Gheorghe Marian Cristescu, President of the Management Board of Chopin Airport Development. “Regarding the beginning of construction at the Poznań-Ławica Airport, we decided on the Moxy brand in this location, because we believe that it suits Poznań, which is a city of innovation, open to young people. We could not have imagined a better location, close to both the airport and local business, commercial and tourist facilities.

The source of inspiration for building the hotel was the fact that as part of our business activities we should also develop non-aviation services. We are very happy that Moxy hotel owned by the Marriott International hotel chain will be built next to our airport, and that it will be managed by Chopin Airport Development. Today, we are at the beginning of foundation works for the Moxy hotel. This is more than just a project next to the airport. It is a visible sign of the development of the city of Poznań, where airport is the window to the world,” said Mariusz Wiatrowski, President of the Management Board of Poznań-Ławica Airport.

We are happy that the investor, Chopin Airport Development, trusted the knowledge and extensive experience of Warbud, entrusting the construction of the Moxy hotel to us. We will exercise all efforts to ensure that the construction proceeds in compliance with the art of construction and with care for the safety of people working on the construction site,” said Jerzy Werle, President of the Management Board and CEO of Warbud S.A.

“Thanks to the experience and knowledge gained during the implementation of projects across the country, we create great places to work and rest. Professional management of real estate projects is one of the crucial competences of PHN. The construction of the hotel next to the Poznań airport is yet another project developed by us in Greater Poland,” said Marcin Mazurek, CEO of Polski Holding Nieruchomości S.A.

“In February 2017, a land lease agreement was signed between Poznań-Ławica Airport and Chopin Airport Development, which is the tenant of the land and investor, and after the construction will become the operator of Moxy hotel from the Marriott group. In October 2017, we signed a franchise agreement with Marriott International, and then commissioned the preparation of an architectural project in the Emkaa Architekci studio. At the same time, we applied for a construction permit and prepared complete investment documentation. We have recently concluded an agreement with the general contractor (Warbud) and the project management company (PHN). Today, a symbolic setting of a foundation stone took place, which is the beginning of the hotel project under the Moxy brand,” said Adam Pilczuk, Director of Strategy and Development at Chopin Airport Development.

Design-oriented, fun and affordable, the Moxy brand is Marriott’s answer to the needs of Generation Y. Moxy hotel offers superfast Wi-Fi, a 24/7 bar, board games, snacks, energetic music and large-screen TVs in all rooms for easy access to online content and games. The hotel's staff not only provides appropriate service, but also creates the hotel's ambience and establishes its authenticity in the eyes of the guests, who are people born between 1980 and 1999, who grew up playing computer games and have never known a world without the Internet. In 2030, there will be around 78 million of them, but they already are an important segment of the business traveler community. For them, work is a source of inspiration and an opportunity to establish new relationships and friendships. When traveling, be it for business or leisure, they look for ways to have fun and enjoy an authentic local experience.
